The Florida State Soccer team opened up conference play in a way that was not familiar to the garnet and gold. For the first time since 2004 with a win over Clemson, Florida State opened up conference play with a victory. The 'Noles notched a 2-1 win over 9th ranked Maryland on Thursday night, but the 'Noles weren't done yet. On Sunday, Florida State hosted 3rd ranked Boston College, and came away with a 3-2 winner to start conference play (2-0).
FSU Soccer Assistant Coach Eric Bell says,
"We were happy that we were able to come away with two results from the weekend against two very good opponents in Maryland and Boston College. We knew going into it that it was going to be a tough two games and we're happy to come away with two good results."
FSU Junior Midfielder Amanda DaCosta says,
"It's a big step forward for us. We're (2-0) in the ACC and we did it against big teams. Maryland and Boston College are both ranked teams, undefeated, came into our backyard. We had our crowd behind up. We were excited about it. We just got after it and it was a huge step forward."
With the back to back conference wins, the 'Noles are (5-0) against ranked teams this season. In the 'Noles first ten games they are outscoring opponents 38-6.
Eric Bell adds,
"Giving up goals is something that we don't want to do but if we're able to score more than the other team then obviously we're happy with that."
Then the Seminoles must be happy with the way their season is going.
