Florida State concluded their fall baseball practice with the annual Garnet and Gold scrimmage last week. As expected, the Gold team, made up of mostly returning starters, handled the Garnet team, mainly featuring new faces, in both games.
FSU Senior Outfielder Ohmed Danesh says,
"We're having a great fall season. We're practicing, we're working hard, we're looking very very good. We're starting to get a little sharp int he infield, starting to get sharp in the outfield. Our hitting is there, our pitching is there."
FSU Sophomore Pitcher Sean Gilmartin adds,
"Team did real well I think especially with the new guys coming in, they know how to hit the ball pretty well and I think this team is going to be pretty good this year."
FSU Head Baseball Coach Mike Martin adds,
"I thought as the game went along we started to settle down and started throwing to the spots a lot better."
This fall went smoother than years gone by. If fans enjoyed what they saw in the spring, then they'll know what to expect in 2010. Sixteen returning players made up the fall roster.
Ohmed Danesh adds,
"I think the returners are a very key roll because there are also a lot of new guys that came in this year. They look how we act and mimic it in a way. The best thing about it is we're all friends and that's the best part because as long as you become a family, you start playing as a team."
Hopefully you enjoyed your sneak peak into the future. The next time they'll be on the field together, February when they hold their first official practice.
