Jimmy Everett has done it all in Tallahassee. From a player to a coach to Athletic Director, he is one of the most recognizable figures in Tallahassee High School Athletics.
Friend of Jimmy Everett David Jones says,
"Jimmy's played sports for years. He played at FSU on the football team. He's got sports buddies that he's developed friendships with and relationships with all over the country."
Former Lincoln Coach and Athletic Director Jimmy Everett adds,
"I've coached for thirty three years and I've touched a lot of kids lives and I just feel just wonderful that I've helped some kids out and after thirty three years I'm just honored that I've touched some peoples' lives."
For a man who is such an inspiration to so many, it was difficult to hear that Jimmy had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's' disease. For an illness that weakens the body, it has strengthened those who know him.
Lincoln Head Baseball Coach Joe Vallese adds,
"I really haven't realized how much Coach Everett touched people in Tallahassee. I just hear it all over the place and it's just , it's just amazing, the support that's coming around for Coach Everett and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He actually hired me for this job and over the years we've become such good friends. Anything I can do for the family or we can do as a program for the family. It's one thing to do, to help the community, but when it touches your heart and it's part of your family like Coach Everett, and Tyler is, it touches a whole new dimension."
Tallahassee is better for what Jimmy Everett has brought to the community and his actions and teachings will always be remembered.
