Heading into the second annual Border Wars All Star game, Florida wanted to gain respect. Last season Georgia has no issues taking care of the boys from the sunshine state. This year, the tables were turned as Florida rolled over Georgia 28-7. The offense had no issues with the Georgia defense, scoring two touchdowns in the first half, and Leon's Eric Williams put on a show to take home Florida's Offensive MVP.
Mayo Senior Quarterback Tim Bracewell says,
"It's always a good time out here to come together for one week and it's tough learning everything in one week but it was fun. We put all this time together and got a win. I've never played none of these guys, it's something different, it's fun."
The defense was the most impressive angle of the team. Florida pitched a shutout with Georgia's lone score coming from an interception return. The defense had two returns for scores to round out Florida's 28 points.
Florida High Senior Defensive Back Devyn Hardy adds,
"We came in here with a chip on our shoulder because last year they beast us pretty bad. All the coaches were talking about was we had to redeem ourselves and represent Florida well and that's what was on our mind the whole time."
The game not only capped off a week of preparation, but high school careers for fifty five seniors on a winning note.
