Duke has Krzyzewskiville, Florida has the Rowdy Reptiles, and at Florida State, there's "Bigtown". Formally known as Hamiltonville, Florida State students camped out overnight in anticipation of the 'Noles basketball game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
FSU Nole Zone Member Richie Barnes says,
"We started it last year for Duke when it was our ACC home opener and it's just the thing of getting here early. Other schools around the country do stuff like this, so we're trying to start a new tradition at Florida State. It's our second year doing this."
Close to sixty members of the 'Nole Zone, Florida State Basketball's student section, bared the mild temperature and the drizzling rain to get the best possible seat in the house to watch one of the biggest home games on the 'Noles home schedule. Their enthusiasm did not go unnoticed as Coach Hamilton and members of the team payed a visit to check out their camp site.
FSU Freshman Alicia Vollmer adds,
"It's a new way of viewing the game because we've never camped out before, because we're freshmen, and it will be exciting and a new thing to try and we love going to basketball games."
In the end, the wait proved to be well worth the experience. Florida State upset 19th ranked Georgia Tech in front of one of the largest crowds to attend a game at the Tucker Center this season.
