The FAMU High girls basketball team is no stranger to success. They have not missed the state playoffs since 1994, and last week captured their sixteenth consecutive district title.
FAMU Head Girls Basketball Coach Ahmad Aliyy says,
"It's more of a mental aspect right now with our girls, that's what I'm telling them and telling them to remain mentally though. They are high school girls and trying to let them have fun , and they will have fun but the thing of it is if we stay focused I think we can do pretty good."
Last season, these girls nearly came away with their first state championship since 2004, but had to settle for silver and that finish left them starving for more."
Ahmad Aliyy adds,
"Well they say they're very hungry. We'll see, we'll see. We just feasted tonight so hopefully we'll continue to eat well. I think they're hungry and ready to go."
Their win loss record does not reflect how these girls have performed this season. Though competition in high classes lead to a few close games that only helped prepare the Baby Rattlers to this point. Their playoff quest begins Thursday against Bethlehem.
