With Florida State defending it's home course and winning the 2010 Seminole Intercollegiate, Florida State has won three tournaments this season and sky rocketed through the polls to the number eight position.
FSU Senior Golfer Seath Lauer says,
"We have high expectations and I think that's good. I don't think it's going to affect us in a negative way. I think it's motivation for us to play better."
The team returns its leaders from last year in Seath Lauer and Master and U.S. Open participant Drew Kittleson, but also has young members making veteran contributions.
FSU Junior Golfer Drew Kittleson adds,
"Everyone has stepped up at the right time this year. It's been a big plus for everybody and I think the more that everyone practices and gets more used to each other. There's still freshman that are playing and their game has matured, we can mature as a group."
The Seminoles success has not gone unnoticed, Head Coach Trey Jones was recognized as Mid Season National Coach of the Year.
FSU Golf Head Coach Trey Jones adds,
"These guys did that, I didn't hit a shot. It's easy to sit there and say mid season coach of the year, well one of the reasons that was given is no one thought that much of our team to start the year."
Florida State looks to have history repeat itself. The last time FSU won the Seminole Intercollegiate, they went on to capture the ACC title as well.
