Following Florida State Volleyball's first ever trip to the Elite 8, the Seminoles returned to the court to begin spring practice. Entering his third season as head coach, Chris Poole will use this time to evaluate and improve his players skills.
FSU Head Volleyball Coach Chris Poole adds,
"There's two things we're really trying to accomplish. One is to make them individually better, every single player, and the other is to establish who are true leaders are going to be on the team in the fall because it's very important as you loose seniors and you loose upperclassmen, you find someone to pick up that slack from an on the court and an off the court role."
The Seminoles loose five members of last season's elite team.
Chris Poole adds,
"It's really a lot different situation because last year we only lost one player from our '08 team and had the bulk of our setters and hitters back. This is completely different because we're losing some major, major players. Four of those five were all conference players that we're losing. The fifth one being Lauren Richardson, because of medical reasons won't be able to play next year. Really it's a good group that we're losing but at the same time, there's a lot of good young players on this team."
Florida State opened spring competition this past weekend and will host another set of games April 10th. The Seminoles will also travel to Atlanta and Dallas to close out it's spring season.
