The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets boys soccer team finds itself in a familiar situation; one win away from claiming it's fifth straight region 1-AAAA title.
TCCHS Senior Defender Josh Choise says,
"We have a good team that's been in this situation before, pressure time, and they know what they playoffs are like and how the competition is going to be."
TCCHS Senior Midfield/Forward Tyler Strickland adds,
"We want to win the region again so we can have the top seed in the playoffs and be at home so the fans can come support us and all."
TCCHS Head Soccer Coach Jonathan Carroll adds,
"We have seven returners from last year so these guys know what it's all about. Now it's just a matter of executing when we play."
Throughout the season, the Yellow Jackets have done just that. Thomas County central has a record of (13-1-4) heading into Wednesday nights region title game.
"We just work hard as a team and they just fight and work till the very end of each game. They never give up. We have some talent of course but talent can only go so far. These guys have to work."
Josh Choice adds,
"We always keep fighting no matter how many goals we're down or if we maintain the lead so our coaches are always telling us never give up, keep battling. That's when champions come out."
With a state playoffs birth already secured, these Jackets have aspirations of putting the second round elimination in last years tournament behind them and advancing tot he final four, as they did in 2008.
