Valdosta State tennis knows a thing or two about winning.
VSU Head Tennis Coach John Hansen says,
"Obviously when you win it's fun and that's what you're striving to do. It's funny that when you have fun and you win like this the season just flies by."
After blazing through the Gulf South Conference in the regular season, both teams came away conference champions in the GSC tournament.
VSU Sophomore Tennis Player Kristel de Groot adds,
"The team is close together. We're supporting each other and I think that's one of the most important things."
VSU Junior Tennis Player Michael Kuech adds,
"The conference is always great win for the University because of reputation so it's basically been a great year so far."
The men became the first team in 17 years to win four consecutive GSC Championships while the Lady Blazers won their fourth GSC Championship and second in the past three seasons.
John Hanses adds,
"You have to feel confident, you have to know that you can possibly win or you're going ot get beat."
Michael Kuech adds,
"We went into the year with high expectations because we have a really good group here but our goals are not accomplished yet. We want to go further."
Both teams now get set for regional play. The men, who were one point away from an undefeated season, will host first round action with the ladies traveling to Boca Raton.
