Success has been np stranger for the Seminole golf teams. The women had its highest finish in school history at 10th. Now the men seeks out its first national title.
FSU sophomore golfer Brooks Koepka says,
"Hopefully the best golf has yet to come so hopefully we can get five guys clicking on all cylinders at the same time. That would be great."
The Seminoles finished second in the central regional to advance to the finals with three members finishing within the top fifteen. Freshman Michael Hebert finished tied for eleventh, Wesley Graham tied for second, with Drew Kittleson winning the individual title.
FSU junior golfer Drew Kittleson adds,
"We had five good players going in and another freshman got to experience regional so that was good for the future and I was fortunate enough to play well."
FSU sophomore golfer Wesley Graham adds,
"It's really good for all of us. We're all peaking at the right time and it seems fun heading into this next week. It should be a good test. If we play the same as last week then we'll definitely get a good chance at winning the national championship."
This marks the nineteenth time in school history and the first since 2007 that FSU will compete for the national title.
FSU senior golfer Seath Lauer adds,
"We started off the season really well back in the fall and ever since then we've had high expectations. We've gotten to where we need to be and that's all behind us and now it's time for a new week."
The championship finals will be played at the Honors Course at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
