It's the tournament that the North Florida Volleyball Academy club teams have prepared for since coming together in mid November. Seven teams from the twelve and under to the seventeen elite team, traveled to Orlando to compete in the AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championship tournament.
NFVA outside hitter Haley Koles says,
"It's the end of our season so it's a big deal. It's kind of what like we've all lead up to and practiced to. We're all ready and we're going to try really hard."
NFVA outside hitter Blyss Karkness adds,
"It's a really good experience playing teams from all over and across the nation."
Over five hundred club teams from all across the country and Puerto Rico will be on hand for the week long tournament. Allowing the girls to see the top competition in high school volleyball, and given the opportunity to perform in front of many college scouts and recruiters.
NFVA director Rita Crockett adds,
"That's why you go to these tournaments in the end because you want to get recruited. This is a great opportunity for all these kids to be seen by college coaches."
For six of the teams that NFVA has, their season ends in Orlando. For the sixteen elite team, their season has one more tournament left to take part in. The Junior Olympics in Reno beginning June 30th.
