Helping businesses help themselves. That's what AEGIS is all about. In 1997, the idea came about to start a full service outsourced I.T. company, essentially a company that takes over your computer and fixes it if anything goes wrong.

"We saw small businesses that did not know how to use their computers and they didn't know how to back things up--and didn't know how to keep things secure," said AEGIS CEO Pam Butler.

From a local doctors office to a manufacturing facility, AEGIS is on call, 24 hours a day, whether it's something as small as your computer locked up, to as advanced as your entire system shuts down.

"Hey our computers don't work, the servers are crashing. They call AEGIS. We have a full time help desk and a staff of 10 technicians that take care of 200 organizations in North Florida," said Blake Dowling, Chief Business Development Officer.

The AEGIS name was derived from the greek word shield, appropriate for what the company does. And as for the reason they used it?

"It's an old basic marketing concept. Start your company with the first letter of the alphabet, it's a good idea."

AEGIS caters to the small businesses They are a Microsoft Gold and Dell partner, giving them the credentials to walk into any company and prove their worth.

"What you can say to people is when you have a small business and got a computer and can't afford to have your own folks because you are a small business, then you can have AEGIS do that."
