In tonight's eye on business we head to Crawfordville to visit a company that takes its customers sky high.
They opened for business 25 years ago and even in a down economy, they continue to thrive.
At first glance, it looks like the largest wood shop you've ever seen. But there's a reason for all the sawing, and drilling, and bolting. Tucked away in Crawfordville is the home of Residential Elevators, the nations largest factor direct of home elevators.
"We've been here for 25 years and employ a lot of people locally in Wakulla County and just opened a new facility in Cairo, Georgia so we proud that we are creating jobs for the North Florida community," said Senior V.P. Eric Sharkey.
Their motto is elevating your standard of living and REI has a way of taking you to the next level. It's a niche market but one that has caught on to some very well known athletes.
"We've done pro athletes, Dale Junior, Juan Pablo Montoya in Miami--you're confined to 15 square feet so there's only so much you can do. But there are some in upwards of 40-50 thousand dollars of interior finishing from marble to glass to neon lights."
Owner Bobby Boeneke was a money man by trade, but decided to take a chance on a very niche business. He'll admit he's not an elevator expert, but he's hired 125 other people to fill in the blanks.
"You learn on the go...even today you learn," said President Bobby Boeneke.
The elevators are not just to impress, they are also a necessity for some. And those are the elevators that Bobby remembers the most.
"We do a lot of elevators for folks who need handicap accessibility. When you make deadline, they need it--coming home from hospitals or some other need. It's very gratifying and satisfying. We get calls after calls and letters saying what a great job we do."

Obviously, your grandson has not been there very long, itwill happen they are the most beguiling folks he will ever encounter. In addition, majority folks hired are not from Wakulla County. None of the CEO's live in the county, nor will they ever. I feel for the neighboring folks, due to the fumes and pollution that runs in the area. You should also investigate unfair hiring practices they observe and they claims they have filed against them. Hitler is a lot nicer term than I would have used
THEY WORK PEOPLE LIKE SLAVED NO OVER TIME AND IF YOU ASK FOR MORE HOURS THEY THREATEN TO FIRE YOU GREAT COMPANY HITLER RUNS IT
keep up the good work,my grandson works for you folks and is a very happy camper
