Tallahassee, Florida - Feb. 22, 2012 - Noon -

Leon County voters will soon decide if a half cent sales tax should be renewed. The sales tax benefits county schools.

Whenever you buy something in Leon County, there's a 7.5 percent sales tax. That half cent tax goes toward technology, facilities, and transportation for the Leon County school system and Superintendent Jackie Pons wants to make sure that money keeps rolling in.

Watch our LIVE interview with Jackie Pons by clicking on the video above.

The Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a review to determine if that half cent tax is necessary in the upcoming years.

That renewal for the half cent sales tax will be on the ballot this November. It would keep the tax in place for 15 years.

That is what I meant when I responded to Gerry. When my property tax goes up on the rentals, the rent goes up, and not just the extra property tax but a few extra $ for the hazzle...but libs have no clue as they survive (or want to survive) only on government handouts.

You two are a perfect examples as why we should not raise special taxes. Is your community more unified or more divided? Taxes split communities

Every school in the county had signs on them 3 years ago touting #400,000 to $5,000,000.00 for building improvments(facilities). Where did that money come from and where has it gone? All government offices need to follow Rick Scotts' lead and reduce spending, reduce waste, reduce fraud and in general...JUST GET OVER IT.
