Tallahassee, FL - The Tallahassee Sports Council, a division of Leon
County Tourism Development, also known as Visit Tallahassee, is proud to announce that Leon County will be hosting the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Black American Worlds Softball Tournament August 26-29, 2011. Supported by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs, this adult slow-pitch tournament will bring more than 150 teams to the area, equating to an estimated 4,360 room nights and over $2 million in economic impact during a traditionally slow season.
We are excited to be named the host city for the USSSA Softball
Tournament, said Lee Daniel, Executive Director of Visit Tallahassee.
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase our warm and welcoming
community to an association that has not yet held an event of this
caliber in Tallahassee.
The USSSA Black American Worlds Softball Tournament will be the
culmination of a season of tournaments from all over the United States.
Being chosen as the location for the final tournament is a very big deal
for the sporting community in Tallahassee, said Dee Crumpler, Director
of City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs. We
look forward to wowing the players with our amazing, state-of-the art
facilities.
The tournament will be spread amongst Messer Sports Complex, Tom Brown Park and Springsax Softball Complex. For more information, contact Brian Hickey, Tallahassee Sports Council Director, at (850) 606-2313.
