Bainbridge, GA - Health care officials and community members celebrated a new state-of-the-art medical clinic in our area. Physicians say the facility will provide greater access to patients in Decatur County.
The new Archbold-Bainbridge Specialty Clinic has six individual fusion stations where patients can comfortably sit and watch a flat screen TV while getting their chemotherapy treatments.
All of their treatments can be done right in Bainbridge. No more having to travel to Thomasville for specialty services.
John Fischer, Archbold Memorial Hospital's Senior Vice President of Operations, says, "Health care costs a lot. But, when you have to travel out of your home, it takes you away from your jobs. it costs the gasoline and we all know that's not cheap anymore."
Before, specialty services were available in Bainbridge one day a week. The new clinic will give access to cardiology, oncology, otolaryngology, and nephrology services five days a week.
Dr. Robert Miles, a cardiologist for Archbold, says, "It increases our access. It opens up a lot more possibilities of things that we can do to take better care of the cardiac patients that are in this area."
Administrators held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, and an open house to allow community members to take a tour of the new 8,500 square-foot building.
Oncologist Dr. Brian Gaupp says, "It's a community that I've seen change quite a bit over the past 14 years. It's certainly makes me happy that we can serve in a better fashion."
The clinic opens Monday, November 18th.
The Archbold-Bainbridge Specialty Clinic is located at 1323 East Shotwell Street in Bainbridge. For more information on hours and services available at the clinic, go to www.archbold.org or call (229) 243-0283.
