Leon County, FL - Navigating through the Affordable Care Act could be a little confusing. The new healthcare system was uncharted territory to the folks at the Leon County Library.
Mary Kuipers is an information professional at the library's main branch. She has been preparing to try and guide folks through the new process.
Mary Kuipers: "The minute we heard about the Affordable Care Act and started hearing about it on the news, we knew people were going to be coming in and asking questions and we didn't have a whole lot of knowledge about it, so we wanted to make ourselves as expert as we can be."
It's all part of the library's effort to help the people signing up in the new health care exchanges. Library Director Cay Hohmeister says this isn't about politics, but simply giving people the tools to figure out something that's new to all of us.
Cay Hohmeister, Library director: "That's our bottom line, access to information for what you need to live your life."
The library also has public internet at their branches if you don't have regular access to a computer.
