Suwannee County, FL - The Suwannee Board of County Commissioners has voted to add a life-flight helicopter to the Suwannee County Airport.
The helicopter is being provided by a company called Air Methods which recently added a helicopter to the Valdosta Airport. The aircraft will be especially crucial for cardiac patients who usually have a 90 minute window from the time of the heart attack to getting treatment.

James Sommers, Suwanneee County Public Safety Director: "The users of the system will have to pay their medical bills and things like that but there's no cost to the residents of Suwannee County for the service. So they will have a crew here based 24/7 within 90 days and so if a call comes in the crew will be ready to go."

The closest hospital to Suwannee County is in Gainesville which takes a little over 20 minutes in the new helicopter.
