Tallahassee FL- A new study suggests ADHD rates are on the rise in the US with more people being diagnosed with the disorder every year.
An article in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry indicates a 42% increase since 2003. The Journal also reported a 28-percent increase in children taking a drug to treat the disorder since 2007.
Psychologist at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Larry Kubiak, said "If their child or even themselves-- I have a lot of adult that come in--- are having trouble with attention then they are wondering if that may be the cause of it."
Psychologist Kubiak also said he believes more people are learning about the neurological disorder ADHD and the more people learn the more they are interested in finding out if they have the disorder.
