High blood pressure may cause your brain to prematurely age. That was the finding of of a study out of UC Davis. Researchers analyzed data on close to 600 people taking part in a heart study in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Participants had their blood pressure taken on entry, and were placed into one of three groups. Afterwards, an MRI was used to scan their brain - taking extensive measurements of any white matter injury and gray matter found.

Results showed the brains of the people in the high blood pressure group were significantly less healthy than those with normal blood pressure.
