A Turkish study found that men in their thirties with severe periodontal disease are more than three times as likely to suffer from erectile problems than those with healthy gums.
Fifty-three percent of the men interviewed with erectile dysfunction have inflamed gums compared to twenty-three percent of those without signs of gum disease.
Some doctors disagree with the study, though, saying erectile dysfunction is caused by multiple factors.
Although the study says there is not a direct cause-and-effect between the two, it claims there is a definite correlation.
