August 31, 2012 - A vaccine to prevent tuberculosis may help people with type one diabetes. In a small experimental trial researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital found the shot can help diabetics temporarily produce insulin. Larger studies are now underway. Doctors are hoping they can eventually figure out how to use the treatment to reverse type one diabetes.

Also, new research shows binge drinkers are happier with their college experience and social life than their non-drinking peers. Sociologists studied data from more than 15 hundred undergrads at a selective northeastern liberal arts college. They learned that bingeing is associated with social power. The researchers told the american sociological association most students who binge drink do it to fit in.
