People can get "social jet lag" when they wake up at one time during the week, and sleep in on the weekends. Scientists looked at people 16 to 65-years old and they discovered sleeping patterns, along with other factors, like age and gender, are a good predictor of body weight. One take away from the study, according to experts, is to try to maintain a regular sleeping schedule. It might be good for your health in the long run.
Also, there's another reason to cut back on the sugar. A new study finds too much of the sweet stuff is bad for your brain. Researchers at the University of California Los Angeles say rats who were fed high fructose corn syrup had a hard time finding their way through a maze. The sweetener is found in soda, baby food and processed snack foods. Health officials say the average American consumes more than 40 pounds of high fructose corn syrup a year. The study was published in the Journal of Physiology.
