Doctors are testing an experimental treatment that threads a tiny device into the kidneys to burn away overactive nerves. Nerves in the kidneys help regulate blood pressure and sometimes stay stimulated. Researchers believe turning off those nerves can bring down high blood pressure levels. The procedure is in the testing phase and is for patients who can't get their condition under control with medication alone.

Also, a new Alzheimer's drug is showing promise. A Danish drugmaker tested the experimental pill on 278 people with a mild to moderate form of the disease. Researchers say patients showed significant improvement on memory and cognitive tests. Other companies are testing similar drugs that work by stimulating activity in certain parts of the brain.
