July 20, 2012 - Uncircumcised boys may be at a higher risk of contracting a urinary tract infection. At least that's what a study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal suggests. Researchers studied nearly 400 boys who visited a Canadian emergency room with U-T-I symptoms. Out of that group, 309 were uncircumcised. They say more than half of the kids who weren't circumcised were diagnosed with a U-T-I. Only five percent of the circumcised boys had it. Unlike previous studies, the researchers also found the visibility of the urethral opening didn't affect the level of risk.
