March 20, 2012 - Americans are living longer. A new study from the centers for disease control looked at mortality rates from the last 75 years. It finds that the overall risk of dying has dropped 60 percent since 1935. But the leading causes of death have not changed. Heart disease and cancer remained the number one and number two killers every year of the study.

Also, new data says that metal hip replacements fail much more often than those made of plastic or ceramic. The authors of a new study are calling for a ban on so-called "metal on metal" implants after reviewing 400 thousand hip replacements. The study also found that the failure rate for metal implants was about four times higher for women.
