April 5, 2012 - Unroasted coffee beans may be the key to quick weight loss. A new study found that a small group of overweight people lost about 10-percent of their body weight after eating less than an ounce of ground, green coffee beans every day for 22 weeks. Study participants combined the coffee with a low-fat diet and exercise. Researchers suspect a substance found in unroasted coffee beans known as chlorogenic acid may be behind the fat burn. The study was presented at the American Chemical Society's spring national meeting.

That's about three standard alcoholic drinks a day. The World Health Organization says it's a growing health problem with more than 40-recognized alcohol-related conditions, including liver disease and chronic pancreatitis.
