In today's health matters, even people with only slightly higher blood pressure are at risk for a serious health condition.
A review in the journal "Neurology" says people with pre-hypertension were 50 percent more likely to develop a stroke.
That's compared to people who may be older, obese, smoke or have diabetes but have normal blood pressures.
The review also found people under the age of 65 with pre-hypertension are 80 percent more likely to develop stroke.
Doctors say people should cut down on salt and lose weight to lower their risk.
