In today's Health Matters, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the united states. And medical experts say getting and keeping a healthy heart isn't as hard as it seems.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the united states. In fact the CDC reports it's responsible for one out of three deaths.
February is American Heart Month and experts want to remind everyone it's never too late change a bad habit.
The Mayo Clinic wants you to commit to eating five fruits and vegetables a day , move at least ten minutes more per day and try to get adequate sleep.
If you're sedentary and if you move even ten minutes a day you can reduce your risk of heart attack by as much as 50%.
One of the most important things to remember is that no one is perfect. Setbacks are normal. Sticking with it will make the difference.
