Tallahassee, FL -- September 2, 2011, Lee Williams rushes for a touchdown at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The Marauders lost that game to FAMU 48-21 but it will not be his last time playing in that stadium.
"The feeling of staying in town and being around family and not being able to move far away because I might get a little bit homesick."
The speedster they've nicknamed lightning has given his verbal commit to play football at Florida A&M. Come signing day he will become the first Marauder to sign a football scholarship with a four year school.
Lee adds, "I always looked on TV and didn't really know what college football was and now it's an honor and really a blessing for me to be able to play college football."
"That says a lot for Lee to be the first athlete, first football athlete to commit to a four-year school. Hopefully it's the first of many names to come from Maclay."
Lee has also put his speed to good use for Maclay's track team. He won state titles last year in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and triple jump.
Lee adds, "For me, it's football works out with track and track works out with football."
Which was one of the main draws for him to FAMU. He will be able to suit up for both the football and track teams.
He'll have two platforms to shine at for the Rattlers over the coming years.
