Valdosta State University Facing More Budget Cuts

VSU will have to reduce its next budget by about $1.8 million.

University leaders will look trimming cost in several areas. VSU president Ron Zaccari says he hopes these cuts will prevent the school from having to fire any full-time employees.

Ron Zaccari says, "Layoffs will be the last decisions we will have to make. We will make as many other cuts as we can to save jobs, save lives, save family incomes which are so essential to things going."

In addition to the short-term cuts, the reduced state funding will also delay VSU's expansion plans. President Zaccari say it could push the start of some programs back by a few years.
