The Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force held a meeting in Tallahassee Wednesday to discuss the latest economic and environmental response to the spill.

Currently, all state waters are open to fishing and all fish and shrimp have been clear of contamination. BP has set up a 20 billion dollar fund to pay out oil related legal claims. So far they have paid roughly 10 million dollars to counties that have filed legal claims.

"The real value of the task force and the way the Governor set it up is to pull from that expertise to get us to recommendations to ensure that one, no person, business, state or local government goes wanting as a result of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The second aspect of that is to ensure that we have full and complete economic recovery," said task force chairman Chris Hart.

Attorney General Bill McCollum stopped by the meeting to discuss some of the legal issues and FWC officials have extended red snapper season by 24 days.
