An area college is going mobile.

Southwest Georgia Technical College student Ryan Jorge recently created a mobile website application for the school's website. It's now the first technical college in the Technical College System of Georgia to have one.

Officials say students can now access critical information quickly and easily from any smart phone.

"More students are living from their cellphones so it just makes sense to make their education portable with something they can take with them and access as they go," Sheryl Sealy, director of SWGTC's Institutional Advancement, said.

"I came up with the mobile website to make it easier for students to check their banner, their calendar, student email, campus news, directory if they need to call anybody," Ryan Jorge, creator of the SWGTC mobile website, said.

School officials say the mobile website eliminates photos and other parts of traditional websites that make viewing them difficult from a cell phone.
