Governor Charlie Crist's Florida Discount Drug Card Program has been around since 2007 but he wants to remind folks that it's still up and running, and he especially wants people 60 and older to pay attention.

Which is why he was at the Gadsden Senior Services center on Thursday.

"Especially in these economic times people need a break and they deserve a break," said Crist.

The Florida Discount Drug Program is designed to lower the cost of prescription drugs. And this year Crist announced that the program would be available for all Florida residents- regardless of age, income, or pre-existing conditions. And for some seniors living through tough economic times they say it's good news.

"It's a saving and I will have some extra money to do some things in the house," said resident Willie Woods.

"You don't want senior citizens making a choice between whether to have a telephone to call to their grandchildren and paying for prescription drugs," said George Sheldon.

But Crist's critics say that his other health care initiatives haven't fared so well. And it seem Crist can't utter the words "health care" without someone remembering how he flip-flopped on his stance with President Obama's health care bill.

But the criticism doesn't seem to bother him and Crist says he's optimistic he'll add to the 166-thousand already enrolled.

Looks like Charlie Obummer is following in his mentor's footsteps. Quincy doesn't even speak English anymore. Promise the illegals and unemployed the taxpayers will continue to take care of them and you can get their vote.
