An FSU student is sexually assaulted in her dorm room and police are still trying to figure out what happened.
Investigators say the young woman had a drink in a local bar and doesn't remember what happened next.
A 17 year old FSU student reports that she was sexually assaulted in her dorm room at Wildwood Hall in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
Officers say the student had a drink with friends at a local bar and then can't remember anything else.
"It was shocking to hear about. I have a couple of friends that live right there in that exact building actually, so the first thing that went through my mind was, I hope it's not them or I hope it's not anybody they know. I'm sorry that anybody had to go through that," said FSU student Blake Davis as he walked by the dorm Thursday.
"The first thing that goes through my mind is how could they, like, not walk around with a buddy sometimes on campus, and at the same time, I feel bad, like why would someone want to do that to another person," said FSU student Amanda Hoak.
FSU Police say the man was still there when the young woman's roomate came home hours later. He exchanged pleasantries with her, police say, and then left.
Investigators are now interviewing the woman's friends and folks who may have seen her at that bar to try to put all the pieces together.
"She's reported that this happened to her and now we've basically got to recreate the evening," said FSU Spokesman Major Jim Russell.
This is the 6th sexual assault reported on campus this year. Police remind students to always go out and come home with a buddy, refrain from excessive drinking and if you feel sick, woozy or suspect you've been drugged get medical help.
"No means no, but also the inability to say yes, also means no. If somebody can't consent, then any sexual contact with somebody who can't consent is rape," Russell said.
If you have any information on this assault, you can call Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
HERE IS A RELEASE THAT FSU POLICE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT ABOUT THE INCIDENT AS WELL:
On August 31, 2010, an FSU student reported that she was the victim of a sexual battery in Wildwood Hall (located near Jefferson Street and Varsity Way) on campus that took place sometime during the early morning hours of August 31. The student advised that she had been out with friends off campus, drank a beverage, and had little to no recollection of anything shortly thereafter. The offense reportedly occurred once the victim was back in her residence hall. The victim was unable to provide any first hand information as to a suspect description. Police are currently investigating this case and attempting to interview any persons who may have information as to events leading up to the offense and any possible suspect information.
The FSUPD requests that if you have any information regarding this incident, to please contact the FSUPD at 644-1234. If you wish to provide information anonymously, you can contact Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS (8477). Remember, Crime Stoppers does not want your name, just your information. You could be eligible for a cash reward of up to 1000 dollars.
Crime Prevention Tips
1. If you are going out, do not go alone, and always leave with the group you arrived with.
2. Never accept a beverage from anyone and always watch your drink.
3. If you feel ill, woozy, or sick, seek medical attention. If you suspect that someone has given you an unknown substance, seek medical attention and call police.
4. Do not provide personal contact information to persons you meet. If someone is interested in getting to know you better, have them provide you their information.
5. Do not participate in high risk drinking. Intoxication reduces your ability to defend yourself or make sound safety decisions.
6. No means no, and the inability to say yes, also means no. Persons who are incapacitated cannot consent to sexual contact. Sexual contact with an incapacitated person is rape.
This information is provided by the Florida State University Police Department as a public service to assist you in making personal safety decisions.

Everybody forgets a rape can be a death sentence for the victim, depending on what the attacker has. If they happen to have HIV, etc. it's a lot more than a bad time. Get serious about these attacks.
The article doesn't state it was alcohol, students can go in an establishment and have a non-alcohol drink. Regardless of whether it conained alcohol, other than the fact she is definately underage, is neither here nor there. It sounds like someone slipped something, date rape drug, in her drink. Where were her group of "friends", did they allow her to leave the bar alone, did he follow her or was she with this loser when she left? The whole concept of going out with friends is so that you have people with you to help you and look out for you, in the event you need it. You're supposed to "have each others back". This young lady needs to 1) stay out of bars at 17. 2)Find a better group of friends to hang out with, no one obviously had her back. I hope they catch the ****ard that did this to her, lock him up and throw away the key! He'll get what he gave back when he is in Jail, justice will be served to him, probably many times over!
anyone ever heard of the date rape drug that causes the person to forget the incident....they do sell non alcoholic drinks in clubs/bars. everyone just assumes that the girl is in the wrong. she has already been victimized by someone, and on this forum, her victimization is continuing. the judgemental people on this site are exactly what is wrong with society and the justice system (juries). If the glove doesn't fit you must acquit, all over.
