Midway, FL - A motion to discuss the controversial Midway Fire Department was quickly shot down by the City's Associate Attorney saying the legal matters should be discussed at a later date.

But angry and concerned citizens sat through two hours of Flag donations and budget talks with a burning question- why is Agatha Muse-Salters still employed by the city?

The city manager's contract and employment agreement was challenged by Midway Mayor Cato saying Salters is unprofessional, rude and not working in the best interest of the city.

After a contentious back and forth debate at Thursday night's meeting between Council members and many Midway residents, the council voted 4 to 3 to remove Agatha Muse-Salters immediately. This was a glimmer of hope for laid-off firefighters who blame Salters for poor judgment that ultimately led to their dismissal.

The city will still have to pay Salters for 6 months and pay an interim City Manager to do their services.

Council Members have scheduled a meeting to talk specifically about the fire department lawsuit next Thursday night September 9th at 6:30
