The Lake Park Fire Department has improved its standing on the Insurance Service Organization rankings of fire departments. The Lake Park Fire Department moved from an 8 ranking to a 6.
ISO ranks fire departments in the area on a scale from 1-10 with one being the best. They are ranked based on how well they respond to fires.
The fire chief says when he first took over he told the city he could do improve its ranking in three years... but he got it done in 14 months.
"For us to turn things around in that short of time, it just shows the dedication and hard work that our people put in for the citizens of Lake Park to live," said Lake Park Fire Chief David Brown.
Brown says these new rankings are just the beginning of what the fire department is looking to accomplish.

For a small town, Lake Park sure does have one dedicated group of excellent fire fighters. Feels good to know Chief Brown and his Volunteers are protecting us and Lowering our ISO. Thanks LPFD
Thank you Chief Brown. Since you took over, I have felt safer in Lake Park. My mother lives there and I am in Lake Park quite often. Every time I come through the town, I see someone at the station. That didn't take place before you took over. Before you came, it looked like a ghost town. Thank you and all your members for your dedication. It gives me peace of mind to know that my mother will be protected should she ever need your services.
