The 2004-2005 Leon County budget was approved Tuesday night only a few weeks before the start of the new fiscal year.
Tony Grippa of the Leon County Commission said, "They're doubling a tax on property owners. In the future we need to double check before double taxes."
But for others, it’s being considered a long awaited, lifesaving victory.
Bill Proctor of the Leon County Commission, said, “Hopefully, it closes the gap and fills in some holes and allows mothers and children to see professionals."
The money is going to be used toward a woman's clinic.
Commissioner Proctor says to put the numbers into perspective, for every $100,000 in property this .22 millage rate will cost tax payers about $10.
