The final beam was secured into place at the new Ambulatory Center and Medical Office building. Officials say the new facility will be a modern area for increased hospital services and care.
The two buildings are expected to include offices, retail space, a satellite laboratory and a cardiac rehab facility.
Mayor John Fretti says the new facility shows how Valdosta continues to grow. "Thousands of people come through here on a weekly basis and we are enlarging and we're doing it in a very good way, with good character," said Mayor Fretti. "So, the whole hospital campus now has walk ability and connectivity."
Officials say construction on the project is expected to be completed in June of 2008.
