Market Days

The great weather this weekend is being thanked for high turnout at Market Days. The event has been going on for decades and is gaining popularity.

From the soft peaceful chimes to the bouncing birds, this year the Market Days Fine Arts Show has drawn quite a crowd.

"The vendors are saying that this year sales are up," shared John Goldinger, a Market Days volunteer. "That this cool weather is great and people get out their wallets and buy Christmas gifts in large quantities.”

Who could resist the gourmet soups and dips from nationally acclaimed chefs? Plus, the flowers are always a big hit.

One vender has come here to Market Days for the first time, while others have been here almost since the market's beginning. In fact, one vendor moved a little closer after seeing Market Days’ success.

"We've been here around 20 yeas now. When we used to live in North Carolina we traveled down here to do the show, now we live in Monticello, so it is a local show for us," said Terry Pollard, owner of Stained Glass Creations.

Organizers say they expected around 20,000 people to show up, which is good for the local economy as the vendors pay for hotel rooms and food, and part of the proceeds from this go to the Tallahassee Museum.

Organizers say it takes 500 volunteers to pull off Market Days.
