The Florida Citrus Commission hammers down the debate over whose juice is the juiciest.
The commission gave “light” orange juice manufacturers about a month to settle out a deal that will clear up the confusion over whether the light blends are 100 percent pure.
Commissioners approved Wednesday a campaign against new light producers that may contain less than 50 percent pure juice. Since manufacturers add water, fewer oranges are needed.
The Citrus Department will address separating light juice from 100 percent pure juice with individual retailers. The agency will ask manufacturers to publicize their percentage of pure juice by placing a label in the front instead of on the side box.
Commissioners hope to have the issue resolved by December.
