Program Teaches Recycling Through Magic

First and second graders in Valdosta learned an important message with a little bit of magic.

Students at Lomax-Pinevale Elementary had their listening ears on and all eyes on magician Greg.

H. Aaron Strickland, Keep Lowndes-Valdosta Beautiful Director, said, "It's kind of a real easy thing to do because the kids are having fun while learning about recycling. They don't even know their learning because they are having so much fun with it!"

Recycling advocates say it is important for these kids to start recycling at a young age, but it’s even more important for them to share the message with mom and dad.

Greg Allen, recycling magician, said, "All night long they'll just talk about recycling. Mom and Dad we have to recycle this, we have to recycle that. So it kind of gets the point across and hopefully they'll tell their parents and maybe get them involved too."

The Magic of Recycling has 14 shows throughout the week for students in Lowndes County.
