Fatal Accident in Lowndes County

By  |

The Georgia State Patrol says the car carrying six passengers flipped over on Stallings Road around 4 a.m.

An 18-year-old male was killed. Right now authorities are withholding his name. Four other passengers in the car were transported to South Georgia Medical Center.

The driver, Edward Cowart, was arrested at the scene. Authorities say he had been drinking.

The car overturned after law enforcement officials say Cowart somehow lost control of the car.

Authorities say charges are pending and Cowart is being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
