Mr. Food is cookin' up yet another presidential favorite as he continues with his tasty salute to America.
Our salute to America, it’s presidents, and their favorite foods continues with Abraham Lincoln who in his Gettysburg Address uttered the words, "This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth."
Well, that statement rings truer today than ever. With all we may have learned about him over the years, want to know one of his favorite dishes?
In a soup pot over high heat in a bit of vegetable oil, we sauté 2 large chopped onions along with 4 pounds of split chicken wings until they’re golden.
Now we add in 3 jars of beef gravy, 1 teaspoon each of paprika, sugar, garlic powder, and black pepper, and cook it all on a medium heat about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a bowl we make small meatballs from a mixture of ground beef, eggs, bread crumbs, onion powder, and salt.
Add them to the pot and simmer them for about 30 minutes more, until they’re cooked through and we’ve got fricassee, and then we have a pot full of this hearty main dish to serve over a bed of hot cooked noodles!
