During a daring attack in the middle of the day, an ordinary day of work quickly turned out of the ordinary.
Christina Wortham was working at the Shell station on Gaines and Jackson Bluff when a car pulled up. The two men inside had been shot, one in the thigh, another in the ankle.
Christina says, "At first I thought they might have been in trouble, but after I've seen the two of guys crying, and plus you could see the blood coming from the one guy's leg whenever he stood up in the car."
Leon County sheriff's detectives say the two men were shot at a car wash tent they rent next to Raymond's convenience store on Jackson Bluff Road. We're told the gunman's car drove up to the wash, there was an "exchange of words," and then gunshots.
David Graham, a LCSO detective, says, "Two of the three people were hit. They go into the store and at that point 9-1-1 is called."
But for some unknown reason, a third person tried to drive the men to the hospital. They wound up at the Shell station where they flagged down a deputy. The men were transported to the hospital, treated and released, and the search for who shot them continues.
Witnesses say there was a silver car at the scene. If you have any information about this case you are asked to call the Leon County Sheriff's Office 922-3300.
