When Bobby Petty returned home from work he found squad cars surrounding his neighborhood of Colonial Estates. He says a lady he didn't know was at his house. She told his wife she had been struck in the head with a shot gun.
Bobby says, “She had walked down to the house and Carolyn called 9-1-1, and the Sheriff's Department came out."
He soon found out happened. A few houses down, two men he's known for years, Jeffery Jackson and Charley Boney, were dead from gunshot wounds.
"I was very shocked; it's just really bad," he says.
Investigators say for some reason Jackson and Boney started fighting and that a woman, identified as Linda Clemmons, was struck in the head with a gun.
Morris Young, Gadsden County Sheriff, says, “Mr. Jackson took a shotgun and started shooting at Mr. Boney."
Shortly after, Jackson's mother returned home.
"Her son stood there and took his life in front of her."
What sparked the argument between the two men is unknown.. Sheriff Morris says both men had been drinking probably since the early afternoon.
"That's a bad thing, but that's what happens when alcohol gets involved."
Shock is all Bobby says he can feel right now, and sympathy for the families who have lost two sons.
This is an ongoing investigation. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is working with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office to piece together exactly what happened.
