Taylor County, FL -- May 21, 2012 --
Two men who try to scam a local store are caught on surveillance video.
They're donning Florida Power and Light uniforms, but aren't employees.
Taylor County deputies are calling the men criminals for pulling a check scam at the Wagon Wheels convenience store.
"We're reaching out, trying to identify these individuals," said Bryan Hayden, an investigator with the Taylor County Sheriff's Office.
They entered the store on April 17 impersonating FPL employees.
One of the men had "The Blak" written on his hard hat.
They presented the clerk with fake driver's licenses and what appeared to be paychecks.
They were trying to cash in.
"They have all kind of creative ways to do that," Hayden said.
The men got away with close to $1,000 and are still on the loose.
The Wagon Wheel staff said the two men came off as nice. They didn't seem like trouble, but when the checks bounced, they realized otherwise.
"If you think something is suspicious, you can call law enforcement or your bank to see if they will take the check," Hayden added.
The men were seen driving away in a silver sedan.
Officials with the local FPL office didn't recognize the men and couldn't find them in employee databases.
