One person is dead after an accident that tied up traffic for hours along I-10.
It happened Saturday night just after 7 p.m. Several law enforcement agencies responded to the accident along Interstate 10 and exit 199 near Monroe Street.
The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver in the eastbound lane lost control of his vehicle and crossed the median into the path of a semi, forcing both vehicles through the guardrail.
The semi overturned on the Ford truck and the vehicles burst into flames. Ralph Lindsey, the driver of the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene.
