A Franklin County high school student has been arrested on multiple rape and burglary charges.
The 16 year old is charged in two cases. One in Carrabelle and one in Applachicola. Both happened last year. The Franklin County Sheriff's office says due to the severity of the charges he'll be charged as an adult.
Leonard Green was arrested on January 18th at his high school.
Deputies say he broke into homes and raped two women. DNA tests have positively linked him to both cases. One of those involving a 65 year old woman.
People in this normally quiet town say authorities are right to charge him as an adult.
Jackie Coarsey, a Carrabelle resident, says, "At 16 he knows exactly what he's doing and therefore should be punished."
Joanie Bassler, another resident, adds, "I don't really care how old he is when you do something like you need to be it has to be the hardest punishment."
Cathy Poston, a Carrabelle resident, says, "It is kind of unusual been here a year and a half and nothing like this has ever happened before."
Green is being held at the Franklin County Jail. Investigators say because of his age he's in a separate area than the other inmates.
Green is being held without bond.
